Christmas Letter in May?

Larry and I have totally loved the nice weather here with mild temperatures and always a breeze out here on the "shady acres"! Last week we bought a few new tree type plants. We bought two new lilac trees, some new hostas and a dogwood tree! It has kept us busy watering the new things until they get established.

We replanted all of the hostas in the rock garden out in back because there was too much sun for them since we cut down a tree there. I have it envisioned as a "beautiful sanctuary" but as you can see, it is pretty rough right now.

We planted some things in the front yard including two roses bushes which produces beautiful little white and red roses. It has been fun planting and working outside with Larry we both enjoy it so much.

Of course our garden always needs something done to it but we really need a good soaking rain. The weeds are growing like, well.....WEEDS! If everything produces we will be dropping vegetables off at night (while people are asleep) to those poor souls who run when they see us coming with a full bag of tomatoes. This happens at the end of the season. Once eager for our bounty, they try to avoid us when they have had too much and we are trying to just get rid of it.

We have been more faithful to our walks also, which we both need. Usually Lucy and Rocky starts out but Zippy, Rocky's bother who lives on the corner soon follows. How God blesses us with all of his creation. Not to mention the antics of the crazy dogs. My endurence is getting better and my walking partner (Larry) even told me that he thinks I am walking faster. I thought I only had one speed (slow)! He usually uses words like "molasses" and "Grandma Moses" when refering to my walking speed!

Why do I feel like I just wrote a Christmas letter in May? Just another day in our life as we watch the corn grow in Illinois!

View From My Prayer Chair

This was the view from my Prayer Chair this morning! I love looking across the field to see my neighbors red barn, which sits on the edge of our property. In a tree near by a young robin looks his world over and tries to make sense of me and my critters! I got a picture of one of my favorite birds the "Kill Deer"! Besides having an very odd name, they run around like some kind of beach bird with long spindly legs. Their babies, when hatched, are ready to run and look like baby chickens on stilts. These smart parents when approached, lead the intruder away from their babies by faining and injured wing! How could there not be a brilliant creator taking time to instill such instincts into His creatures!

And then there is my four legged creatures who faithfully follow me out to the prayer chair. Our God gave us these friends with a desire to be with us no matter what! To stick by us when we hurt, or happy! They give comfort, calm and it is proven that pets lower blood pressure, slow a racing heart and give help to those with disabilities!

Today I caught Lucy after a run in the field with her tongue hanging out but a smile on her face! Well, sorta! Thank you God, that you not only put us here on earth but you provide us with so much beauty! Ever unfailing love from the Father!

Summer at the Nihiser's House!

Sweet Larry working on
our back deck! He said
don't take a picture until
I shave but I didn't listen!

My flower garden this year in need of weeding!

When Mendy sent me

an update of how big

the baby is, it said that

it was 8.5 ounces as big

as an Heirloom tomato!

Watching the corn grow

is amazing! It is supposed

to according to the old

saying, be "knee high by

the 4th of July but corn is

as tall as Larry!

I love our Golden Rain Tree

this time of the year!

Happy Birthday Cati Grace!

Besides watching the corn grow here, I have watched my grandchildren grow. Today I am celebrating the birth of my sweet grandaughter
Catherine Grace Lourash. She has been such a blessing to her grandpa and I. To me she is funny like her Aunt Missy, she looks like her Aunt Mendy and has been a delight to her whole family all of her life. She has always been uniquely Cati which makes her so special. When she was a little girl she could be challenging to her parents but to her grandma she was a delight. I have watched her grow into a beautiful teenager who loves the Lord and is so amazing. I am so proud of who she has become. You might hear her called many names: Cati, Cati Grace, Catherine, and Grace among other variations of her name but I call her "Beautiful". Happy Birthday Cati Grace.
I thank God for our sweet Catherine Grace!
